Magic Ring - How to...
Many of my pattern start with a magic ring in round one. This How-To show you in many Pictures to make it. There is a Standard ring with one yarn loop and double magic ring with two yarn Loops at beginning. I make a How to with two loops, because the pulling later is a little complicated. I ever use the double magic ring ( more safety that the yarn dont burst when I pull it together)
We start with the pattern description : MR (MagicRing) 6sc (06)
Translated it mean make a magic ring with 6 single crochet. That work also with half/ double crochet stitches or others. To work in spiral rounds, there no more description, then close the ring I show you here. But there an option to make half round pieces, then you dont close it completely, but this is ever shown in pattern how to...Standard is to close the round !
1.Step The Loops
Wrap the yarn arround two of your fingers ( if you want to make a simple magic ring only one wrap arround).
I take two wraps because the ring will be thicker and more stable like only one. But it will work both.
2.Step take Yarn
Place the work yarn end to backside and go with you hook needle under the wraps from front to back and take the work yarn end.
3.Step Loop on needle
You have a loop on needle now.
4.Step make a chain stitch
Work a chain stitch with this loop to save the stitch on your ring.
5.Step pull the stitch
The stitch may be loose so pull it a little bit until you have a normal stitch size. You only Need to pull the yarn ends to give them a good form ! but dont pull the wrapped Loops !
6.Step go through mid part
We want to crochet 6 single crochet on the ring, so we start to stitch with the needle through the big wrap hole and take a working yarn Loop on the needle.
7.Step a single crochet
Crochet both loops on needle to a single crochet. Your first stitch ready on your ring...
8.Step Stitch repeat
Your first round is with 6 single crochet so repeat the 6.+7. step 5 times until you have 6 sc on your ring.
9.Step pull to close ring
Take the yarn start end and pull a Little bit until you see which loop would be smaller, dont pull to much you need to take this smaller Loop first !
10.Step little loop pulling now
Pull the smaller Loop until the bigger Loop is completely away and all stitches go in a round.
11.Step 2. nd Loop pulling
Take your thumb on the stitches center top and your forefinger of the same hand on the place back. With the other hand take the start yarn end and pull it until the last wrap/loop away like the first one.
12.Step start round 2
To work in rounds make a chain stitch to the first (next) stitch of last round.
For spiral rounds make the next stitch you want in the first stitch of last round.
